Important to know

The TOOLBUS interface for the ARIS and Oracle Designer enables exchange of Data Models and parts of Process Models between the ARIS Toolset / ARIS Business Architect / Oracle Business Process Architect and Oracle Designer in both directions. The TOOLBUS Interface for ARIS and Oracle Designer supports the following ARIS models (‘’ <==> ‘’ is for bidirectional, ‘’ ==> ‘’ is for unidirectional mapping from ARIS Toolset to Oracle Designer):

Remark: The layout of the Entity Relationship Diagram cannot be transformed, because the import/export interface of Oracle Designer (Application Programmatic Interface / API) does not include diagram positions. All Entities get default positions in ARIS Toolset (assigned by TOOLBUS) and in Oracle Designer (assigned by Oracle).

Conversion Process

In order to migrate a model from ARIS to Oracle Designer a XML file (AML File) is created by the export function of ARIS. The ARIS XML export file is converted to a standard interface file called “TOOLBUS”. The TOOLBUS interface programs create a new Application System or update the latest version of an existing Application System by the functions provided by Oracle Designer’s API, using the TOOLBUS file as input. In order to migrate a Data Model from Oracle De signer to ARIS an Application System is exported from Oracle Designer by the TOOLBUS export program into a TOOLBUS file. The TOOLBUS transformation programs generate an ARIS XML impor t file for the ARIS Toolset / ARIS Business Architect / Oracle Business Process Architect from the TOOLBUS file.

Platform

The TOOLBUS Interface for ARIS and Oracle Designer requires Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista. The interface supports ARIS 6.x, 7.0 and 7.1, and Oracle Designer 1.3, 2.1, 2.1.2, 6.0, 6i, 9i and 10g.
