Convert ARIS to Select Enterprise

Important to know

The TOOLBUS Interface for the ARIS Toolset and Select Component Architect (SCA, formerly available as Systems Engineer) enables the bi-directional model exchange between the two repositories. The mapping of the model types wh ich should be converted can be specified by selecting “Mapping Options” on the graphical user interface. UML Class Diagrams: UML Class Diagrams can be converted from the ARIS Toolset to UML Class Diagrams for Select Component Architect Component Architect, and vice versa. The layout of the UML Class Diagrams is maintained in both directions to a high degree. UML Use-Case Diagrams: UML Use-Case Diagrams can be converted from the ARIS Toolset to UML Use-Case Diagrams in Select Component Architect, and vice versa. The layout of the UML Use-Case Diagrams is maintained in both directions to a high degree. Data Models: Data Models (IE, eERM, SAP-SERM, Attribute Allocation Diagrams) can be converted from the ARIS Toolset to UML Class Diagrams in Select Component Architect, and vice versa. The layout of the UML Class and of the Entity-Relationship Diagrams is maintained in both directions to a high degree, if the IE Data Models method is used in the ARIS Toolset. ARIS Clusters can be converted to UML Packages in SCA, and vice versa. Function Descriptions and Function Trees: ARIS Functions with their textual descriptions can be converted to Business Processes for SCA, and vice versa. For every ARIS Function Tree a Business Process Hierarchy is generated in SCA, and vice versa. Extended Event-Process Chains (eEPCs): eEPCs from ARIS can be converted to Process Thread Diagrams (PTDs) for Select Component Architect, and vice versa.

Conversion Process

In order to convert a model from the ARIS Toolset to Select Component Architect a XML or TXT file must be created by the export function of the ARIS Toolset. The ARIS export file is converted to a standard interface file called “TOOLBUS File”. This file is used to create a SCA project by the OLE automation functions of Select Component Architect. In order to convert models from Select Component Architect to the ARIS Toolset the models are exported into a TOOLBUS file by the OLE automation functions of SCA, and the TOOLBUS programs generate an ARIS import file (XML or TXT file) from the TOOLBUS file.

Platform

The TOOLBUS Interface for the ARIS Toolset and Select Component Architect requires Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP. The interface supports ARIS Toolset versions 4.1, 5.0, 5.01, 6.0, 6.1 and 6.2, and Select Component Architect versions 4, 5 and 6.
