Important to know

The TOOLBUS Interface for ARIS and CA ERwin enables the bi-directional migration of Data Models and UML Class Diagrams between ARIS Business Architect and CA ERwin Data Modeler. It supports these ARIS Models:
+ IE Data Model – Information Engineering Data Model
+ eERM – extended Entity Relationship Model
+ SAP-SERM
+ Attribute Allocation Diagram
+ Table Diagram (unidirectional from ERwin to ARIS)
+ UML Class Diagram
The ARIS Data Models and UML Class Diagrams are converted to Logical Data Models i n ERwin Data Modeler, and vice versa. Furthermore Physical Data Models from ERwin Data Modeler can be migrated to ARIS Table Diagrams (unidirectional interface). When using the “IE Data Model” in ARIS, the layout of the Entity -Relationship Diagrams is mai ntained in ERwin Data Modeler, and vice versa. The layout of the UML Class Diagrams from ARIS UML Designer is also maintained in the Subject Areas in ERwin Data Modeler, and vice versa.

Conversion Process

In order to migrate a data or UML model from ARIS to ERwin Data Modeler, a XML file (AML file) must be exported from an ARIS Group. The TOOLBUS Interface parses the ARIS XML export file, and it creates an XML import file for CA ERwin Data Modeler. In order to convert a Logical or Physical Data Model from ERwin Data Modeler to ARIS, the TOOLBUS Interface parses ERwin model files (.erwin,.er1,.XML, or.ERX files), or ERwin Data Modeler models stored in an ERwin Model Manager database (ModelMart), and it creates an ARIS XML import file.

The TOOLBUS Interface for ARIS and ERwin Data Modeler Data Modeler requires Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7. The interface supports the ARIS Toolset, ARIS Business Architect, ARIS IT Architect, and ARIS UML Designer 6.2 to 7.2, Oracle Business Process Architect 10g an 11g, and CA ERwin Data Modeler 3.5.2, 4.0 to 4.1.4, 7.0 to 7.3, and 8.0 to 9.0.
