Convert Oracle Designer to COOL:Biz

Important to know

Function: The TOOLBUS Interface for COOL:Biz and Oracle Designer enables exchange of Data Models, Process Hierarchies and Oracle Server Models (Physical Data Models) in both directions:
+ Entities, Relationships, Attributes, Identifiers and Domains (Information Types) are bidirectionally migrated with their properties and textual descriptions. Remark: The layout of Entity-Relationship Data Models can not be migrated, as this is not supported by the API functions of Oracle Designer. But Data Models can be easily created by including Entities, which is possible in both tools.
+ Process Hierarchies are migrated from Oracle Designer to Process Decompositions in COOL:Biz, and vice versa. All textual descriptions of processes are transferred.
+ CRUD information (Create/Read/Update/Delete references of Processes to Entities and Attributes) is migrated in both directions.
+ Table Definitions (with references to Entities), Columns (with references to Attributes), Key Components, Unique/Primary/Foreign Key Constraints and Relation Indexes are migrated in both directions.

Conversion Process

Migration Process: To migrate Data Models, Process Hierarchies and/or Oracle Server Models from Oracle Designer to COOL:Biz, an Application System is export ed from Oracle Designer by the TOOLBUS export program into a TOOLBUS file. From the TOOLBUS file a BML file is generated, which can be imported into COOL:Biz. To migrate models from COOL:Biz to Oracle Desi gner the COOL:Biz model is exported into a BML file. The TOOLBUS transformation program generates an intermediate TOOLBUS file from the BML file. The TOOLBUS update program builds a new Application System or updates the latest version of an existing Application System by the functions provided by the API (Application Programmatic Interface) of Oracle Designer, using the TOOLBUS file as input.

Platform: The TOOLBUS Interface for COOL:Biz and Oracle Designer requires Windows 98/Me or Windows NT/2000/XP. It supports COOL:Biz 4.0, 4.1, 5.0 and 5.1, Designer/2000 1.3, and Oracle Designer 2.1, 2.1.2, 6.0, 6i and 9i.
