Important to know

The TOOLBUS Interface for Oracle Designer and COOL:BusinessTeam (formerly Bachman/Analyst, or GroundWorks) enables exchange of Data Models (Entity-Relationship models) in both directions: Entities, Relationships (Partnerships, Partnership Sets), Attributes, Identifiers, Domains and Value Sets (Allowed Values) are bidirectionally migrated with their properties and textual descriptions. The layout of Entity-Relationship Data Models can not be migrated, as this is not supported by the API functions of Designer. But Data Models can be easily created by including Entities, which is possible in both tools.

Conversion Process

Migration Process: To migrate Data Models from COOL:BusinessTeam to Designer, the COOL:BusinessTeam Model is exported into a.VAR file. The TOOLBUS transformation programs generate an intermediate TOOLBUS file from the.VAR file. The TOOLBUS update program builds a new Application System or updates the latest vers ion of an existing Application System by the functions provided by the API (Application Programmatic Interface) of Oracle Designer, using the TOOLBUS file as input. To migrate Data Models from Designer to C OOL:BusinessTeam an Application System is exported from Oracle Designer by the TOOLBUS export program into a TOOLBUS file. From the TOOLBUS file a.VAR file is generated, which can be imported into COOL:BusinessTeam.

Platform: The TOOLBUS Interface for COOL:BusinessTeam and Oracle Designer requires Windows 95/98/Me, or Windows NT/2000/XP. It supports Oracle Designer/2000 1.3, Oracle Designer 2.1/2.1.2/6.0/6i, COOL:BusinessTeam 1.2 and 1.2a, Bachman/Analyst Releases 4.15, 4.20, 4.30 and 4.4, and GroundWorks Releases 1.x and 2.x.
